gorget.
Bethnal Green Volunteers,
Light Infantry, 1799. At the end of the 18th century there was a danger of invasion which precipitated volunteers
companies to be formed. Uniform was that of the regular army with slight variations.

Canons are
prone to misfiring and in some cases exploding, injuring or killing the operators. It was not unusual to lose a
finger or two, or have an arm blown off while ramming the 'shot' home.
The Royal Engineers, 1813.
Dates from 1772. They were formed to take over the construction of Gibraltar, which was, at that time, being constructed
by civil merchants.
Dragoon, 1814. Although
may not be accurate, the plate came from a survay done at the end of the Napoleonic wars and does not state which
regiment.
